What's New?

September 12th is the big day
That's the day that MISSION TO MARS will be available to purchase on DVD, and probably to rent on VHS. It looks like the street price of the DVD will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $29.00, a bit steep. This price is pretty much made up for by the whole slew of extras included on the DVD:

• Theatrical trailer(s)
Audio Commentary Animates to Scene Comparison
Documentary "Visions of Mars"
Visual Effects Analysis Production
Art Gallery
DVD-ROM Features
Full-screen and widescreen anamorphic formats

BTW, it looks like the cover of the DVD looks a lot like the Hong Kong poster for the movie. Thanks goes to Dan W. for the tip. 6.25.00

ILM M2M PTR
ILM gave everyone who worked on the production of the movie M2M this poster. It looks like it displays every major shot that ILM worked on. Including; The Space Room, The Death of Woody and the "Virtual" Martian (at left). 6.10.00

M2M Patch
This patch, supposedly worn by the astronauts of MISSION TO MARS, recently appeared online over at eBay. The only problem is that I can't remember seeing the patch on ANYONE. Anyone remember seeing the patch? 5.24.00

What's the difference anyway? (Part 3)
Yaaaeah! It's finally finished...I've finished posting all of the differences between the movie MISSION TO MARS and the script. 5.21.00

It's either artistic genius or just being a Jack-@ss!
I'm not sure what's going on here. Either De Palma was tired when giving these interviews, or he was being a "typical" Hollywood Jack-@ss!

(FROM ABC NEWS) C A N N E S, France, May 15 — "'Homage?!' What's that word supposed to mean — stealing or something? That I'm a rip-off artist?"

An irritated Brian De Palma shot those words at one of the dozens of journalists gathered at a press conference Friday in the Palais des Festivals to discuss his new film screening here out of competition, Mission to Mars.

"Early in my career," De Palma continued, "I made the terrible 'error' of trying to learn something about filmmaking by studying the works of Alfred Hitchcock. Since then I've been labeled the 'homage' filmmaker by the press. Well, they haven't knocked me off. I'm alive and well."

(AND FROM ANOTHER SOURCE) As for doing interviews, De Palma said he hates it -- and nothing that just happened at Cannes will improve his mood. "I don't want to do any press. I don't think it's of much value for me."

With a HUGE thanks to Tourdemars 5.20.00

What's the difference anyway? (Part 2)
I've added more pages of my attempt to compare and contrast the differences between the movie MISSION TO MARS and the script to the movie. Do you remember the part in the movie when the crew of Mars 2 crash lands the REMO on Mars and go careening over a canyon rim, crashing to the bottom?

Oh wait, that was only in the script. 4.30.00

Hong Kong Mission to Mars
I recently found this poster for the overseas release of M2M while hunting around on eBay for M2M merchandise. It's not that I don't like the image, but am I the only on who remembers three people making it to the "face" on Mars and not four? Maybe they'll get a new edited release of the movie where Woody doesn't die after all. 4.21.00
