Ok,
maybe not
Well, it seems as if the New York Post might have
been wrong in saying that Jim Cameron's MARS IMAX
3D movie is dead. Thanks to Tourdemars.
From the from Boston.com.
"Director James Cameron
declared himself king of the world when he won Oscars
for "Titanic" and now he wants to be king of Mars,
going so far as to experience weightlessness to
prepare for two Red Planet movie adventures he is
co-writing and producing." 10.8.00

Oh
no!
Say it ain't so Jim, say it ain't so. Thanks goes
to Tourdemars.
From the New
York Post.
...besides "Dark Angel," Cameron
had also been expected to produce a miniseries for
Fox based on the best-selling "Mars" trilogy by
Kim Stanley Robinson. But he has abandoned the project,
explaining that "these books would not be well served
in television and the story was too big a meal for
a feature film." 8.30.00

Cinescape
Jim Cameron's been talking about working on his
various Mars projects while promoting his upcoming
series DARK ANGEL. From the Sept. Oct. 2000 issue
of CINESCAPE
magazine:
QUESTION: What else are
you working on now?
ANSWER: ...I've been
working on this Mars project which has turned into
quite a big thing, because it's now become simultaneously
a six hour miniseries, an IMAX-3D short feature
and a novel. 8.26.00

FIRST
LOOK
August
30, 1999
Jim
Cameron has released several nice, almost hi-res,
images from his upcoming mini-series and IMAX movie.
The story for this feature apparently follows mans
earliest attempts to land upon the red planet. The
images, from left to right, include;
- The
Mars Rover and Astronaut Habitat
The Mars Rover
- The
Mars Rover Parked next to the MARS Lander
- The
Mars Rover making a rocket-propelled leap
- The
Mars Lander
Although
the movie(s) don't come out for another TWO years
it's very nice of Jim Cameron to "wet"
out apetites with these awesome images.
FYI, I
pulled the above logo off of the Mars Rover Image.
The information included on the logo seems to say
that the title of the IMAX movie is MARS IMAX 3D,
Not JIM CAMERON'S MARS as I have guessed.
