I just
got through working a fourteen hour day, so this update will
be short and sweet. I pulled these pre-production images off
of the official Iron Giant web-site. They seem to be pencil
renderings of the "Giant" drawn sometime during
the pre-production pocess.

TimF gave
sent me these pics he acquired online. These drawings were
apparently done in order to pitch a Doc Savage cartoon. The
images were drawn by Frank Bruner, the creator of Howard the
Duck, and presented to Dreamworks Television. Dreamworks then
tried to acquire the rights for the cartoon from Conde Nast,
the owners of the Doc character, but were dismayed when Conde
Nast demanded 1 million dollars for the rights to option (not
produce the cartoon but just to option) the character!
The series
was never produced, but who knows now that the movie seems
to be on the fast-track to production this cartoon could finally
get made!

Remember
last Summer's biggest hit I AM LEGEND? No? The movie, set
to star Arnold Schwarzenegger was to open last Summer, till
an overblown budget put the film into a seemingly forever-hiatus.
However, the movie did make it into pre-production, and several
drawings and story-boards have emerged onto the net.
